Celebrating The Fringe Club with Feste Group’s Newest Pop-Up Cafe, The Vault – Soft Opening on October 10th
OCTOBER 5TH, 2022
Hong Kong’s leading events and catering group, Feste Group, is officially partnering with the time-honoured non-profit arts organisation, The Fringe Club, to revamp their standing food and beverage outlets at the Old Dairy Farm Depot – starting with The Vault Cafe. The cafe pop-up is set to begin its soft opening on October 10th, 2022 with Mono and Michelin-trained chef, Umi Bangari.
In keeping with The Fringe Club’s mission to support local artists and conserve Hong Kong’s cultural heritage, Feste Group’s vision for The Vault is to do just that in a way that also captures the foodies and Central yuppies that frequent the area.
The Vault aims to be your cozy neighbourhood cafe in the heart of Central – an enchanted trove of knick-knacks and treasures, a refuge from the hustle and bustle of this international city. Stop by for a simple breakfast or lunch – grab a quick coffee to-go or stay for a while to enjoy your salad or sandwich. Guests will be warmly welcomed into the space just as if they were being invited into the family cottage kitchen in the countryside. Signatures will include Avocado with Sourdough Soldiers, a Smoked Cheese, Pepper and Spinach Sandwich, and a Pesto Pasta Salad with Tomato, Zucchini, and Pecorino. Not to forget the classic array of white and black coffees. No fuss or gimmick – just good simple food, great coffee, and amazing company.
Just like his menu, Bangari has an easy-going but dedicated passion to him. Finding inspiration in nature and history, combined with his honed skills in the kitchen, it made him the perfect choice to open this pop-up series.
The intimate space is filled with unique trinkets and works of art that create a dichotomy of eccentricity yet harmonious balance. In supporting the local art community, Feste Group will be inviting various local artists to display their pieces in the cafe – from ceramic teapots, to hand-embroidered linens, to painted canvases.
Feste Group’s pop-up at The Vault comes to celebrate The Fringe Club and all they have contributed to our art community in Hong Kong. The Vault will open its doors between 8AM - 5PM for the soft opening on October 10th with its core menu at a reduced price before officially opening on October 21st. Feste Group is also set to reopen The Dairy Bar in their pop-up collaboration with The Fringe Club later this year.

About The Fringe Club
For over 30 years since its establishment, The Fringe Club has become a vibrant contemporary arts space where artists create and show their work – and those who enjoy the arts come to meet and see shows. Facilities for exhibitions and performances here are offered to both emerging and professional artists in Hong Kong and from overseas.
The Fringe Club has come to be identified with freedom of expression. In 2001, The Fringe Club won the HKSAR Government’s first-ever Hong Kong Heritage Award, and its premises were declared Grade-1 heritage in 2009. By creatively transforming this old 1890s colonial building and giving it an entirely new existence and identity, this landmark building has become identified with the energetic and rapid development in arts and culture in Hong Kong.

Umi Bangari’s Bio
Michelin-trained and previously at Mono, Umi Bangari has had copious experience working with cuisines from all over the world. From authentic Greek food at Souvla, to Spanish tapas at Tapeo, to the Argentinian grill at Buenos Aires Polo Club, and back to coastal Italy at Osteria Marzia, there is no doubt that Umi knows flavour like the back of his hand.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Umi knew from a young age that he wanted to work in the kitchen surrounded by all the aromas and spices he could imagine. With both history and nature being his biggest inspirations, what fascinated him was how chefs from different countries could use completely different ingredients to create their version of the same dish. This is what got him committed to honing his craft so he could artfully develop his own vision on the plate.
After a short break abroad, he now returns to Hong Kong with the opportunity to headline the reopening of Fringe Club’s The Vault Cafe and The Dairy Bar with one of Hong Kong’s leading events and catering groups, Feste Group – all to continue sharing his love of food with this city.
